Except for Your grace and forgiveness, I’m hopeless. But, I am forgiven…You have showered Your grace on me, I have peace beyond understanding. I have hope for eternity.
But, many face a bleak tomorrow. Our divisions are deep and seem irreconcilable. Our streets run red from wanton violence. Our headlines scream senseless death and destruction. We have abandoned Your commands to love and forgive one another. Instead, we claim victimhood to justify our rebellion. “But he…” falls too easily from our lips. Blaming others is our preferred consequence-avoidance technique. But, scripture demands we own our failures and “turn the other cheek”. How often does my pride lead to disobedience? How often does my rationalization escalate the problem?
Give me the courage to be part of the solution instead of so easily becoming part of the problem.
Scripture: “But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.” Matthew 5:39
