Lord of Unblinking Reality

All around me, I see people trying to escape reality and seeking life in a make-believe world. To avoid personal responsibility, we have become blinded to reality, denying science to promote our preferences.

We have adopted part of a bedtime prayer as our mantra”

“…I wish I may…I wish I might…have the wish I wish tonight…”

The problem is this mantra avoids mention of the authority addressed in this prayer. The prayer is addressed to the “Lord” of all the universe.

He insists that His plans will prevail. He has my best interests at heart. He is too wise to make mistakes and too loving to do harm.

I’m grateful to be His kid. I know He’s got all my tomorrows well planned. Empower me to tell others.

AMEN

Scripture: “For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the LORD. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Lord With All Power and Authority

I kneel before You today fearing America is fatally deceived. Like Adam and Eve, we believe we can decide for ourselves what is right and wrong.

Majorities of us have abandoned meaningful commitment to our marriage covenant and our children. We mock morality…any act of selflessness is branded as weak and should be used to our advantage.

Integrity and truth are discarded in favor of the latest trend on social media. Can we be brought back to the “old fashioned” values of previous generations?

Imperfect though our forefathers were…they expressed a humble dependence on heaven. Humility is a virtue we’ve long ago discarded.

First, restore a right heart in me…help me live transparently so those around me might see true humility and virtue.

Please, rescue Your remnant.

AMEN

Scripture: “The Lord said to his people: ‘You are standing at the crossroads. So, consider your path. Ask where the old, reliable paths are. Ask where the path is that leads to blessing and follow it. If you do, you will find rest for your souls.’ But they said, “We will not follow it!” Jeremiah 6:16

Lord with a Plan

The security of knowing You are in charge of all my tomorrows is encouraging and gives me great confidence.

I can face each new day and each new challenge without fear, comforted with the understanding that You have my very best in mind and knowing with certainty Your plans for me are perfect.

I wish that meant that I never struggle with daily issues, that the enemy doesn’t bring doubts. But the good news is You are always available to scatter the clouds when I sit before You in prayer.

We are taught to pray, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Help me to live my life to make Your will here on earth a reality for all those living in fear of tomorrow.

AMEN

Father of Forgiveness

I am frightened today, not for my security in You for You have given me both peace and purpose…but for my country.

We are becoming a country of mob rule. Bullying and intimidation seems the order of the day for those not getting their way. From BLM to Antifa, from abortion rights to open borders, from teacher’s unions to gender fluidity, we’ve gone insane and seem to believe “Might makes right”.

It seems the darkness is winning on every front. You are our only hope for redemption; both personally and as a community.

We need a fresh breeze of Your Holy Spirit, Save us from destruction.

Please begin in my heart today…erase my fear and replace it with Your fervor for the lost.

AMEN

Scripture: “This is what the LORD says. “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!” Jeremiah 6:16

Avenger of Evil

I am ashamed of my country. We have embraced the darkness. We live only for ourselves. I have never seen corruption so brazen and public and the law mocked as it is in America today.

Without a turning from the secular world’s willful rejection of Your authority and to Your mercy, we have no future. Every day Your guardrails of protection are cast aside so that we may pursue our own desires regardless of the impact on others. Kindness and graciousness are cruelly abandoned for short-term pleasure. We desperately seek peace for our souls yet reject the source of peace that passes all understanding.

Make visible what the end of our rebellion will be…show us the way of escape. Cause Your children to speak with authority.

AMEN

Teacher and Constrainer

Honor and virtue are not innate to the human heart. Our natural instincts are selfish and debasing. You teach that only by accepting Your standards and inviting Your Spirit into our lives can we hope to make wise and honorable decisions.

Even then, I still fail, but You are there…as soon as I call…to restore me to the right path. You are my protection and the source of my wisdom. You are the joy of my life. I want to be strong and immovable in defense of truth and the most vulnerable. I want to live an honorable live…empower me.

I want to live an exemplary life and to hear when You call me home, “Well done My good and faithful servant”. Show me the way!

AMEN

Scripture: “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?” Jeremiah 17:9

Father of Love and Forgiveness

Honor and virtue are not innate human traits. Our natural instincts are self-centered and debasing. You teach that I…and each of us have fallen victim to a sin nature inherited from our earliest forefathers.

Honor and virtue are learned from You and passed on from generation to generation. When the traditional family breaks down…following generations are left without protection from this fallen world.

So, even as I proclaim my desire to do what’s right…I cannot be honorable and virtuous without Your Spirit living in me and guarding against my natural impulses.
I want to live an honorable life…to be strong and immovable in defense of the most vulnerable. Help me!

When I enter the eternity, You have prepared for me…I want to hear, “Well done My good and faithful servant.”

AMEN

Healer of Wounded Hearts

Thank You for the centuries of blessings You have given to America. As our Creator, You have been so good to us even when we failed to live up to our promises.

But, today my heart is broken. We have become arrogant, believing we know better than You. We have denied Your love. We have set our own course with a total disregard for Your standards and Your guidance. So many among us have chosen to embrace a new “woke” lifestyle rejecting Your teachings as old-fashioned and out-of-step with the 21st century.

But, Father, there remains a remnant faithful to You, thankful for Christ, our rescue from the darkness that surrounds us. Strengthen our courage and embolden our voices, empower us to make a difference.

AMEN

Photo of open hands with 'Yes' and 'No' written on the palms, expressing choice and diversity.

Author of Free Will,

You have said You’re not willing that any soul should perish…yet You gave us the ability to chose a life of darkness without You.

I stumbled in darkness. It would’ve been easy to become angry at heaven when my choices caused me and others pain.

I look back now over decades of trying to discover and follow Your path, you’ve never guided me into the darkness. Though sometimes the path was difficult and not the one I’d have chosen, You’ve never been wrong.

When standing on the corner of “Yes, God” and “No! God”, choosing “Yes” is always the right choice.

You’ve always proven right, no matter the short-term cost.

“No! God” is eternally a bad choice.

Help me share the joy of “Yes, God” to a desperate world.

MARANATHA, AMEN

Scripture: “So turn from your evil ways, each of you, and do what is right.” But the people replied, “Don’t waste your breath. We will continue to live as we want to, stubbornly following our own evil desires.” Jeremiah 18:11-12

The God Without Unintended Consequences

American hubris is laughable in its willful blindness. In our mistaken faith in human wisdom, we regularly broadcast our foolishness to billions of people.

Take for example our medical community smugly announcing their preference for manmade laboratory vaccines above natural immunity to counter the Wuhan virus. Or simply listen the pharma companies’ advertising their latest and greatest miracle drug…if you listen carefully, you’ll discover often nearly half of their message addresses the unintended consequences (side effects) of their product.

Not once in the timeless history of the universe has God encountered an unintended consequence resulting from His work.

Whenever I trust the foolishness of man before the perfection of my Creator I am trusting darkness above the light. Man’s works are marked by unintended consequences…God’s handiwork never is.

AMEN

Scripture “My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.” Jeremiah 4:22
