1 John

Your handiwork throughout the universe declares Your glory. I can never thank You adequately nor repay the debt I owe for my salvation.

We have made a hot mess of the gift of liberty You have given us. We have so gravely damaged America it cannot be repaired by politicians or political parties. We have suffered a massive heart failure that only You can repair.

Before time began You had a plan…as we honor those who have fallen in battle in our defense, we must acknowledge that their sacrifice pales in comparison to the sacrifice You made when Christ hung on a cross between heaven and earth that we might have our hearts restored.

Please turn our faces to heaven in repentance. Forgive us and heal our land…begin with my heart!

AMEN

Scripture: “Christ is the sacrifice that takes away our sins…” I John 2:2

I come before You today awed by Your Power and humbled by the access You’ve given me.

America is being overcome by darkness and being blinded by lies. In our own power, we are helpless to change the course of our country. But with You…I ask in full confidence of Your ability to rescue us from our distress. “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”.

Show Yourself mighty among us and show us the way back to peace and harmony with one another.

Use me today to advance Your kingdom. Guide me and give me the opportunity to speak truth into the darkness that surrounds us.

AMEN

Scripture:
“…greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world.” I John 4:4b

Your forgiveness extends well beyond my first or second failure. Without Your unlimited forgiveness, I would have no hope for the eternal peace You promise…I would have no chance of heaven.

You have been giving me “second chances” repeatedly from the moment I called out to You for help. Your forgiveness knows no bounds. Your ability to lift me up each time I fall, to put my feet back on solid ground and restore my walk with You, has taught me an unshakable principle:

After falling, my next decision is my most important!

Will I call out to You, own my failure, agree with You that I was wrong…and be rescued? Or, will I defend my foolishness, dig a deeper hole and stay mired in my failure?

May my next choice always please You.

AMEN

Scripture: “But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away.” 1 John 1:9

You alone establish justice. Justice is the essence of who You are. You have proclaimed the pattern for mercy. America must acknowledge her guilt and request forgiveness before mercy can be applied and we can be healed.

Americans, in our stubbornness refuse to acknowledge any fault. Our choices are righteous…certified by our fallen conscience. In our demented world, we reject any correction…deny any fault. Our definition of justice is the complete absolution of any choice we make. No judgment leveled against us can stand. America has become so deceived. And so arrogant that we deny any need for the cross. We mock Your mercy…we reject Your son.

We cannot survive without a true awakening…a true remorse. Send Your Holy Spirit among us to humble us and cause us to seek Your forgiveness.

AMEN

Scripture: “If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.” I John 1:10

I cannot imagine life without the hope You give. All around me are people desperate for escape from a life without any meaning beyond their own ease and pleasure. Their every new experience only leads to more hopelessness. Hedonism is not purpose…ease is not fulfillment.

Lord Your are the answer…only You can meet our deepest needs. Everything else leaves broken promises and emptiness.

Have mercy on those who have been blinded by the glitter and glamour of this world.

Send Your Holy Spirit to reveal the lies and deceit of the enemy and show us the way back into the sunlight of Your blessings.

Help me see with Your eyes and love with Your heart…I desire to be part of the solution…not simply a silent bystander.

AMEN

Scripture: “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.” I John 2:16
