Perfect Parent
You have challenged me and nurtured me…disciplined me and encouraged me. You met every need and protected me. I am so grateful You’ve often told me “No”.
In America, our culture has somehow decided the word “No” is uncaring and hard. The truth is that more often “No” is driven by love and concern while “Yes” is too often permissive and driven by a need to be seen as compassionate. “Yes” is too often simply the path of least resistance.
Father, while I have too often pushed back against Your standards…it is obvious to me that Your “No” is much more loving than the “Yes” of a promiscuous and rebellious world. Teach me to trust Your heart in all things and stand firm in spite of the world’s deceptive lures.
AMEN
Scripture: “No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
