God of First Priorities

“Breathes there a man with soul so dead he never to himself has said, “This is my own, my native land’?” (1)

Can a nation survive without patriots? Can a business survive without patrons?

How long can America survive divided and hated by so many citizens?

A healthy national identity creates purpose, belonging and brings unity.

To be an American once meant belonging to something bigger than myself but no longer.

God created nations. He doesn’t denigrate my fealty to America. But, for Him, it’s a matter of first priorities. If I love America above all else, my country has become my idol. God and family must come first. I love America because I love God and my family.

Teach me to be patriotic…loving America behind only my Messiah and my family.

AMEN

Scripture: “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol…” Exodus 20:3-4

Lord of Order and Discipline

Often times I need to be reminded how gracious you are…how your mercies are new every morning…how blessed I am that you have forgiven me of my sin.

I know we demonstrate our love for you by our obedience. Jesus said, “Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he it is who loves Me will be loved by My Father. ” (John 14:21) So, my closeness to You is dependent upon my obedience to Your commandments. The same is true of our Nation as well. May we learn to be One Nation Under God again…inclining our hearts to walk obediently.

Help me walk uprightly before You and be an example for those all around me.

AMEN

Scripture: “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine…” Exodus 19:05

God of Unity and Justice

As the time of decision draws closer…as we vote for those to lead us forward,

I kneel before You asking that Your hand guide us and provide us with Godly men and women to fill the leadership positions in our nation, our states, and our local governments.

Without You, we will be left as divided and bitter…as angry and disillusioned as before we voted. Without Your hand of mercy and without Your divine guidance, we are helpless to make a significant difference.

But, if You will show Yourself mighty among us, this election can begin to bring hope and healing and a fresh new spirit of optimism to our communities.

Give me…and all Your children across America…the discernment to choose wisely in this election.

AMEN
