Isaiah

In a world so full of competing noises and loud, angry voices, my soul is quieted by the knowledge that You can hear me through all the clutter. It is comforting to know my voice reaches Your ears and Your heart.

America today is being destroyed by lies, envy and escapism creating deep divisions among us. We are speeding down a highway and the bridge is out ahead. If we don’t stop and change course the carnage will be devastating.

There is a way that seems right to man, but its end is destruction.

Please light our way so that we can avoid the disaster that awaits us on our current course. Let me be a beacon to show the way to safety.

Scripture: “For the leaders of the people have misled them. They have led them down a path to destruction.” Isaiah 9:16

It is overwhelming to think that I am privileged to enter Your Throne room and make my requests directly to You. Thank you for the grace and love You offer me.

We need your help. Our country is being overcome by darkness and we have lost our way. Only Your light can show us the way back to our founding principles.

Intervene and show us Your path forward. Reveal Your truth and cause us to honor You once again.

Help me be a fearless witness for Your perfect truth. Let Your light shine through me.

When I look around 21st-century America, I am concerned that key essentials of the uniquely American character have been lost over the last few decades. This once great land is no longer that “shining city on the hill” that inspired President Reagan and was a beacon for millions around the globe.

“Can-Do” has been replaced by “Maybe”. Our inspiration to greatness has become wishful thinking. Greatness requires risk-takers to dare the impossible. Success is seldom “overnight”.

Fear has replaced faith and caution over “full speed ahead”. Are we still brave enough to be free?

Empower me to be bold in my faith. Help me place my trust in You rather than men. Let me restore faith to a world fearful of the enemy. Let me lead Your chorus.

Scripture: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

Today, America’s virtue signals but is without virtue. We have abundant access to facts but are without wisdom. We live our lives in silos we have created to isolate us from one another and from any inconvenient truth.

We are “woke” but without a true spiritual awakening.

I’m often distracted by a world that has become so lost in darkness and deceit that spending meaningful time with You seems nearly impossible.

Challenge me to seek Your face every day….to expect to hear from You in my quiet time…not to settle for a quiet time without a fresh word for my soul. Father, I need an authentic encounter with Your Spirit every day. Only then can I be prepared for the battle ahead.

Scripture: “…the Holy One of Israel, has said: “In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength….” Isaiah 30:15

It is easy to pray to You because You have demonstrated in Your word perfect knowledge of all things. In Isaiah 59 You describe America today perfectly”

Our streets run red with blood. Our hands are stained with blood. Our lips have spoken falsely. No one pleads his case with integrity. We rely on empty arguments and lies. We do not know the way of peace; there is no justice in our paths. These paths have turned into crooked roads. No one who walks them will know peace. Justice is mocked.

Surely your arm is not too short to save, nor your ear too dull to hear. There is no way forward, except by your light. Father, I cry out for Your help…preserve Your children in this evil day.

Scripture: taken from Isaiah 59:1-16

I pray confidently to You because You have full knowledge of all truth. In Isaiah 59 You describe an America who has lost her way.

We look for light, but all is darkness; we walk in deep shadows. We grope along the wall like people without eyes. Today I acknowledge our iniquities: rebellion and treachery. We have turned our backs on you, inciting revolt and oppression, uttering the lies our hearts have conceived. Righteousness stands at a distance. Honesty cannot enter. Truth is nowhere to be found. Whoever shuns evil becomes its prey. Lord, I know You are displeased…where is the one willing to stand in the gap?

I stand before you willing to serve…please give me the courage and the integrity to represent You to my lost community.

Scripture: Taken from Isaiah 59:1-16

Sometimes…too often…I falter in my commitment to Your call on my life.

I know the things You expect of me as Your child but too quickly I can grow weary in the battle…it is easy to get overwhelmed by the daily news…the pain evil is causing…the hopelessness of those lost in the darkness.

Hear my cry and restore my strength.  Teach me again how to prioritize my efforts.  Show me the important places to use my time…to give my resources…to deploy the skills You’ve given me. More importantly, daily restore my vision to see with Your eyes.  Help me love with Your heart.  Strengthen me in the battle against the enemies of Your salvation.

Every day…with a smile and good cheer…encourage me to stand in the gap for lost in America.

Scripture: “But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

I know what it means to fail so badly there is no recovery…but I’ve learned I cannot fail so badly rescue is impossible. Christ is my sacrificial lamb and He taught me help is only a whispered prayer away. I am eternally secure not by my merit…but by the promise that God made at Golgotha.

On a Friday much like today, The Son of God took my place, was mocked, scourged and executed for me. Although this brutal mistreatment cannot ever be considered fair or just, this day is remembered as “Good Friday” because Christ’s sacrifice is good news for all mankind…all who asked for Christ’s help have their sin debt paid.

Lord, only You think I’m worth the price You paid…”Thank You”.

Scripture: “He was wounded and crushed because of (my) sins; by taking (my) punishment He has made (me) completely well. Isaiah 53:5

You asked, what more could I do for America? Why has her sweet nectar become sour fruit?

I will judge her arrogance. I will tear down her walls. I will command the clouds to withhold the rain.

I looked for justice; I saw bloodshed.

Woe to him who is…

…Calling evil good and good evil.

…Being wise in his own eyes.

…Championing chugging beer and drinking wine.

…Acquitting the guilty for a bribe.

…Depriving the innocent of justice.

…Despising the word of God.

America has disregarded the Lord’s blessing and failed to see His work in her success.  The anger of the Lord burns against us.  Hell’s jaws will open and consume us.

The Lord’s justice will prevail. Holy Spirit, sweep across America…change our hearts before it’s too late.
