It is comforting for me to know that because of Christ, I have unfettered access to truth.
But, we seem to be at war with truth and reality if they don’t square with what we want. Anything that challenges the way we wish things were is rejected as false. Instead of adapting we seek the nearest “safe space” and retreat into a make-believe reality.
Escapism and denial are the acceptable responses to facts upsetting our fantasies. Make-believe replaces truth. We want to live without restraint. If someone can say of a mass killer, “I know he had a reason for what he did…” as was recently reported…we have truly lost our way.
Lord, remove the scales from our eyes! Shine truth into our darkness. Teach me to share your truth with kindness and love.
AMEN
